Brief Itinerary
Included Meals: B = Breakfast, L = Packed lunch, D = Evening meal
Day 1. Rendezvous at Manchester Airport. Transfer to hotel in Beddgelert. Afternoon walk along the River Glaslyn.
Day 2. Traverse of YWyddfa' (3560 feet or 1085 metres) the highest mountain in Wales, via the ridges of Crib Goch, Crib-y-Ddygyl, and Lliwedd (the 'Snowdon Horseshoe), one of the finest walks in the country. After the hike we return to Beddgelert. (B,L). 7 - 8 hours.
Day 3. We have a 3 hour drive first east along the Welsh coast then crossing the Mersey, we head north through the edge of the Lake District national Park to reach the climbers and walkers centre of Keswick on the shores of Derwent Water. After lunch there is the option to make an ascent of Catbells which overlooks the lake. (B)
Day 4. Ascent of Scafell Pike. Our route takes us across the summits of Glaramara and Allen Crags which provide a spectacular ridge walk to Esk Hause. We then traverse this watershed high above the valleys of Langdale, Eskdale and Borrowdale, to a final scramble up to the rocky summit of England's highest mountain. We choose a completely different descent route passing the mountain lake of Sty Head Tarn, and follow its waters back to Seathwaite.(B,L). 8 hours.
Day 5. The morning is free. After lunch we drive north across the Scottish border to Glasgow where we cross the Clyde River and follow the shore of Loch Lomond into the Highlands. Crossing the wilds of Rannoch Moor we then descend into the beautiful valley of Glencoe and reach our base for the ascent of Ben Nevis. (B). 4 hours driving.
Day 6. Ascent of Ben Nevis. For the Three Peaks challenge we have chosen to climb the UK's highest peak by its finest route. After a strenuous hike to gain the summit of Carn Dearg Meadhonach we traverse the spectacular Carn Mor Dearg Arête to reach the summit ridge of the 'Ben' itself. We return to Glen Nevis by a different route. (B,L). 8 - 10 hours.
Day 7. After breakfast we take you to Glasgow Airport or mainline station if you have a connection, or to another pre arranged drop point if you wish to extend your visit to Scotland. (approximately 2 hours drive) (B).
