Undoubtedly the 'other' star of the Hollywood film Miss Potter is the landscape in which it is set. This is the English Lake District, our premier National Park and a World Heritage Site. Just a hint of its charm and beauty can be glimpsed in the movie.
Our special Beatrix Potter itinerary will take you to the places within the Lake District used as locations in the movie. The best vantage points for some of these locations can only be reached on foot and for each we have devised an excellent walk, not too demanding but enough to give you a sense of satisfaction as the scene from the movie unfolds before you. As well as walks to and around the movie locations we will be visiting the significant places in Beatrix Potter's life such as her home at Hill Top House and various buildings and locations she used to illustrate her books.
Accommodation during for the first half of the tour is in the historic and picturesque market town of Keswick on the shores of Derwentwater which was one of the main filming locations for Miss Potter. We have three days here with daily walks to and around the most spectacular locations used in the 'Miss Potter' film. We then travel on the scenically spectacular railway line shown in 'Miss Potter' to reach the charming town of Ambleside close to Beatrix Potter's home. This will be our base for the second part of the tour within easy reach of several more film locations and the various buildings and scenes of her own 'backyard' which Miss Potter used to illustrate her books.
