This excellent multi-area tour showcases the beautiful countryside of three important regions of England. Situated in the counties of Yorkshire, Cumbria and Northumberland respectively, the limestone country of the Dales, the volcanic mountains of the southern Lake District and the wild and enchanting coastline of Northumbria provide for some of the best walking to be found anywhere in the British Isles.
We begin the tour in Malham at the centre of the Yorkshire Dales. From a base in Malhamdale we will explore the surrounding countryside through a series of splendidly scenic walks and visits which will include the Bronte country, Malham Cove, Goredale Scar, and an ascent of one of the famous Yorkshire 'Three Peaks'.
Moving west, a stay in the countryside of Beatrix Potter is a tour highlight, with walks along the beautiful shoreline of Coniston Water and an ascent of one of the district's highest mountains. This is Britain's premier National Park and its picturesque mix of rugged mountains, unspoiled old world villages, and scattered hill farms, never fails to impress visitors.
In the third distinctive section of this unique tour we move to the wild coast of Northumbria, with its hidden coves and sandy bays, studded with historic and picturesque castles. During this part of the tour we take a cruise around the Farne Islands and make a visit to romantic Holy Island, as well as hiking along the rugged coast and onto Northumberland's Cheviot Hills.
This very special itinerary, unique to Wandering Aengus Treks, offers a variety and grandeur of landscape which will take your breath away. Come and discover for yourself the charm and beauty of Northern England. |
