Specialists for Self-guided Walking Holidays in the Lake District & Northern England .

We are the specialists in quality self-guided holidays in the Lake District and on the Long Distance Paths (LDPs) of Northern England.

Wandering Aengus have been operating walking holidays in the Lake District and on the major long distance paths of the North of England including the Yorkshire Dales, Derbyshire Peak and Northumberland Coast since 2001. As well as classic trails such as Hadrian's Wall, Wainwright's Coast to Coast and the Pennine Way, we offer a few hidden gems that you won't find anywhere else. We have easy to book itineraries which will get you walking in the best of the Lake District and can also give you an instant quote for any individual itinerary you may wish to follow. All our self guided walking holidays include accommodation, luggage transfer (if required), all maps, a guidebook or our own route notes, details of local facilities, and our emergency contact number.

~ Wainwright Walks ~

The 10th annual Keswick Mountain Festival took place in and around Keswick and Derwentwater from Thursday 19th May to Sunday 22nd May 2016.
Four days of outdoor activities, sportiffs, marathons, iron men and iron women, guest speakers, films and two evenings of music in the park.

During the week of the festival, Wandering Aengus Treks put on our usual series of guided Wainwright Walks covering multiple Wainwright tops.

~ The Old Crown Round ~

The next Old Crown Round will be held on Saturday 22 July 2017. Wandering Aengus Treks has a long association with our local community's coperatively owned real ale brewery situated in the back garden of the Old Crown pub, Britain's first ever cooperatively owned pub. The 'Old Crown Round' is a Fell Race and Marathon Walk which traverses each of the local fells that have lent their name to one of the brewery's ales served in the Old Crown, Hesket Newmarket. It doesn't happen every year and its a great day out so if you don't want to miss it, sign up now. To see photos of the event go to our Facebook page by clicking the icon below.
